Rating: - Am I missing something?
In one way, this device does exactly what I'd expected and hoped for but.... (let me explain)
What I'd originally wanted was a device that would interface fully with the Mapyx Quo system, enabling me to download bits of the OS 1:25000 maps with my planned routes, and show me where I was on the map. But, I couldn't find a device which would do this - at any price. So, I lowered my sights and decided to go on navigating using paper maps, but buy a basic SatNav which would tell me my grid ... Rating:  - Birthday present for a nine year old
I bought this for my 9 year old as a present to help finding geocaches. (first attempt with my car sat nav was a sorry affair). Quite tricky to get going, I needed to call the Garmin help line to understand how to get the coordinates in without the computer lead which is sold separately. That said Garmin were very helpful and talked me thought the set up quickly. Very rugged and good battery life, overall a nice present. It would have scored higher but it does feel very entry level.
Rating: - Good product - good value
Good product - very accurate. Instructions not particularly clear but easy to operate once you know how. Perfect for geocaching. Would recommend.
Rating: - Excellent basic GPS - when it's behaving
If this little unit could be relied upon to behave itself, it would be perfect for those who do not require the more sophisticated facilities provided by dearer models.
Unfortunately, this has shut itself down five times since I bought it seven months ago, generally when I have stopped for a few minutes, and more often that not when I am under cover (in a building or beneath trees, for example).

Rating: - Fiddly but impressive sensitivity
Took this out on a Search and Rescue exercise in thick coniferous woodland last night. It was perfectly happy in the thick cover, compared to the official team units (Garmin 12, I think) which refused to boot up or lost signal. The gripes - fiddly buttons can't be operated with even thin gloves on, making it a dubious choice for winter use.
